| BURN INJURY AND TREATMENT
Causes of Burns
Burns are very common among people of all ages. Burns may be
caused by one’s skin or body coming in contact with thermal,
electrical, chemical, or radiation energy.
Thermal burns - When hot metals, scalding liquids,
steam, or flames come in contact with the skin occurs thermal
burns. Such external heat sources raise the temperature of the
skin and tissues and cause tissue cell death or charring.
Electrical burns - burns from electrical current,
either alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC).
Radiation burns - burns due to prolonged exposure
to ultraviolet rays of the sun, or to x-ray radiation, or to other
source of radiation.
Chemical burns - burns due to strong acids,
alkalis, detergents, or solvents coming into contact with the
skin.
It has been estimated that most of the burn accidents occur at
home. An open flame is the main cause of burn injury for adults;
whereas, scalding is the leading cause of burns injury for children.
Both infants and elderly are at greatest risk for burn injury.
Types of Burns
Burns are generally classified as first, second, and third degree,
depending on their depth and severity of penetration into the
skin's surface. First-degree burns are superficial. This type
of burns affects only the outer layer of skin, epidermis. The
site on the skin of a person with first-degree burn will be painful,
dry, and red. First-degree burns do not cause to appear blisters
on the burn site. Mild sunburn is an example for this type of
burns. In first-degree burns, long-term tissue damage is rare
and usually consists of an increase or decrease in the skin color.
As for second-degree burns, they affect epidermis and part of
the dermis layer. Site of this type of burns looks red and blistered.
Second-degree burns may also cause swelling and pain.
Third-degree burns are the most dangerous type. They damage the
epidermis and dermis completely. Underlying bones, muscles, and
tendons as well may be destroyed by third-degree burns. When one
sustains burns of this type, the burns site on their skin turns
white or charred. And sensation will be totally impaired in the
burn site due to destruction of nerve endings.
OTHER SKIN PROBLEMS
Sunburn is a burn to living tissue such as skin produced by overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, commonly from the sun's rays. Exposure of the skin to lesser amounts of UV will often produce a suntan. Usual mild symptoms are red or reddish skin that is hot to the touch, general fatigue, and mild dizziness. An excess of UV-radiation can be life-threatening and can even result in skin cancer.
Regular exposure to direct sunlight sometimes causes sunburn.this apart from the discolouration of skin causes considerable irritation and distress.
This is something that can be easily prevented by the application of scientifically prepared remedies. Our medicine protects as well as cures sunburn.
Among the white skinned races its common for people to do sun bathing by exposing their body to direct sunlight .The purpose is to let the skin acquire a healthy tan.however during this effort many people end up getting sunburned. This can be prevented by applying our herbal balm.In a study 10 out of 12 volunteers applied our herbal balm and went for sun bathing. Two people got suburned. The sunburned victims applied the same herbal balm and were cured.

Diabetic ulcers are caused by the combination of arterial blockage and nerve damage. Although diabetic ulcers may occur on other parts of the body they are more common on the foot. The nerve damage or sensory neuropathy reduces awareness of pressure, heat or injury. Rubbing and pressure on the foot goes unnoticed and causes damage to the skin and subsequent neuropathic ulceration.
our herbal balm helps the blood flow . It will regenerate the dead blood cells. The bluish color will gradually change.

Vitiligo or leukoderma
Vitiligo or leukoderma is a chronic skin disease that causes loss of pigment, resulting in iirregular pale patches of skin. The exact cause of vitiligo is not known. It is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed. As a result, white patches appear on the skin in different parts of the body. Similar patches also appear on both the mucous membranes (tissues that line the inside of the mouth and nose), and the retina (inner layer of the eyeball). The hair that grows on areas affected by vitiligo sometimes turns white.
The cause of vitiligo is not known, but doctors and researchers have several different theories. There is strong evidence that people with vitiligo inherit a group of three genes that make them susceptible to depigmentation. The most widely accepted view is that the depigmentation occurs because vitiligo is an autoimmune disease—a disease in which a person's immune system reacts against the body's own organs or tissues. As such, people's bodies produce proteins called cytokines that alter their pigment-producing cells and cause these cells to die. Another theory is that melanocytes destroy themselves. Finally, some people have reported that a single event such as sunburn or emotional distress triggered vitiligo; however, these events have not been scientifically proven as causes of vitiligo.

Psoriasis is a disorder which affects the skin and joints. It commonly causes red scaly patches to appear on the skin. The scaly patches caused by psoriasis, called psoriatic plaques, are areas of inflammation and excessive skin production. Skin rapidly accumulates at these sites and takes on a silvery-white appearance.
Psoriasis is a noncontagious, lifelong skin disease.
The most common form, plaque [plak] psoriasis, appears as raised, red patches or lesions covered with a silvery white buildup of dead skin cells, called scale.
It is a chronic, noninfectious, inflammatory disease of the skin in which the epidermal cells are produced at a rate that is six to nine times faster than normal the basal layer cells of the skin divide too quickly and the newly formed cells are very rapidly to the skin surface that they are become plaques of epidermal tissues. The psoriatic epidermal cell travel from the basal layer to the stratum of the normal 26 to 28 days due to the increased number of basal cells and the rapid cell passage, the normal cell maturation and growth cannot take place. This is the hereditary defect that causes over production of Keratin. . This disease is also triggered by the genetic make up and environmental stimuli In addition to this trauma, seasonal and hormonal changes are the trigger factors. The onset may occur between ages 15 and 50 years
Appearances:
They appear red, raised patches of skin the scaly patches are built up by the dieing and living and dead skin. This result in increase the rate of skin cells. They are more affected to the elbows and knees, the lower part of the back, and the genitalia. In some cases nails are involved in some patients, with pitting, discoloration, crumbling beneath the free edges and separation of the nail plate. It also occurs on palms and soles. It can cause pustular lesions called palmar pustular psoriasis.
Complication:-
The disease is associated with asymmetric rheumatoid factor negative arthritis of multiple joints. The development of arthritis may occur either before or after the skin lesions appear. Exfoliative psoriatic state is another type of complication found in which the the disease progresses to involve the total body surface called erythrodermic psoriasis it will cause acute illness having fever and chills.
Plaque: Most common form of the disease
Guttate: Appears as small red spots on the skin
Inverse: Occurs in armpits, groin and skin folds
Pustular: White blisters surrounded by red skin
Erythrodermic: Intense redness over large areas

Chickenpox
Chickenpox is a highly contagious illness caused by primary infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV). It generally begins with conjunctival and catarrhal symptoms and then characteristic spots appearing in two or three waves, mainly on the body and head rather than the hands and becoming itchy raw pockmarks, small open sores which heal mostly without scarring.
Chickenpox has a 10-21 day incubation period and is spread easily through aerosolized droplets from the nasopharynx of ill individuals or through direct contact with secretions from the rash. Following primary infection there is usually lifelong protective immunity from further episodes of chickenpox.
Chickenpox is rarely fatal, although it is generally more severe in adults than in children. Pregnant women and those with a suppressed immune system are at highest risk of serious complications. The most common late complication of chicken pox is shingles, caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus decades after the initial episode of chickenpox.
The chicken pox lesions (blisters) start as a two to four millimeter red papule which develops an irregular outline (a rose petal). A thin-walled, clear vesicle (dew drop) develops on top of the area of redness. This "dew drop on a rose petal" lesion is very characteristic of chickenpox. After about 8 to 12 hours the fluid in the vesicle becomes cloudy and the vesicle breaks leaving a crust. The fluid is highly contagious, but once the lesion crusts over it is not considered contagious. The crust usually falls off after seven days sometimes leaving a crater-like scar.

Diabetic foot ulcers
Diabetic foot ulcers occur as a result of various factors. Such factors include mechanical changes in conformation of the bony architecture of the foot, peripheral neuropathy, and atherosclerotic peripheral arterial disease, all of which occur with higher frequency and intensity in the diabetic population.
The diabetic complication increase the risk of infection.
It leads to loss pain and pressure sensation and autonomic neuropathy leads to increased dryness and fissuring of skin. Motor neuropathy results in muscular atrophy which leads to change in the shape of the foot.
peripheral vascular disease - poor circulation of the lower extremities contributes to poor wound healing and develop gangerene. Neuropathy causes loss of protective sensation and loss of coordination of muscle groups in the foot and leg, both of which increase mechanical stresses during ambulation.
